Father Daughter Run

My dad and I ran for 2 hours and 25 minutes on Saturday. It was an interesting run, neither of us had a belt so we have to find some way to hydrate. So at about 7 mi we stopped at Stewarts (a local chain store, for those of you on the west coast) for some Gatorade and a bathroom break. Amy I think I've figured out #3 I need to pee at mile 6ish. Then we continued our run for about 40 minutes and then stopped at my brother's friends house. We were just going to drink out of their hose, but they saw us and greeted us with a nice cold water bottle. At this point we were about 35 minutes from home. We slowed down a few times for dad to stretch out his calf. So we also definitely got the stopping and starting effect in this run. It wasn't so bad in the beginning but I did find it harder to get my muscles going again when we would stop towards the end of the run. The sun was beating down on us at the end - we should have stated an hour ealier, but all in all it was a good run and it is the longest I have ever done so I am feeling much more confident.

In addtion I went to the doctor on Friday for my hip. He suggested doing 2 weeks of regular training followed by a third with less intense runs and more cross training to try and heal. So if anyone else is feeling an injury coming on this might be something to try.

Keep running!
